Hogwarts was an amazing place for young Kurt Hummel. His school life was filled with magic, and that wasn’t just because of the spells. He had amazing friends, amazing classes, in general he loved everything about the school and his classes and tonight he was going to be doing some important work for one of those classes... at least that was the plan. His astronomy homework included one night in the tower watching the moon and documenting everything that he could about what it did that night and he was given the choice of partner to do the assignment with and without hesitation he’d begged, pleaded and groveled for Jeff to be his partner which was something that the teacher had been more than OK with.
He really liked Jeff in more ways than he dared to say. He had been the young Gryffindors best friend since they’d arrived at the school and he was the first person at Hogwarts that Kurt came out too. They had been together on the Quidditch team for most of Kurt’s school life and often they would be in the common room working on their homework together happily. In short they were the best of friends and had been since that first day at Hogwarts... But Kurt had a mild problem. Spending all that time with Jeff awoke a feeling deep within him, butterflies flew in his stomach every time the man walked into the room. He felt something about his friend that he couldn’t let himself say, every time they hit the showers after practice Kurt actually made sure that he somehow stayed out of the showers until Jeff left because he couldn’t handle that thought. He knew that Jeff was his friend, he also knew he was out of his league so he tried to keep thing between them as platonic as he humanly could.
He knew homework was pretty platonic and looking at Pluto as part of said homework was even more platonic than that. He just sat there in the astronomy tower, his books piled around him as he sat there looking at his astronomy book, reading over the chapter on how to tell what section the moon was in at what point. He lazily charmed the book to turn the pages when he flicked his wand, hoping that Jeff would turn up soon. He wanted to get this homework done and hopefully manage to finish it without some kind of accidental slip of the tongue that’d make things awkward... he could hope.
