PERSONALITY:
Though her peers don't particularly like it, Rachel is a very outspoken young lady. She speaks her mind and likes things a certain way and will randomly burst out into song. She accepts that her personality is sometimes abrasive, bossy and high maintenance, but its just the reality she has to face with being a future star and who she just is. But rachel is big hearted and forgiving and loyal and brave. Though sometimes those qualities are overlooked due to her extreme ambition.
She possesses a take charge attitude and has proved to be a natural born leader. Though short in stature, her presence is mighty especially when such a powerful singing voice comes out of a girl so tiny. Rachel is extremely confident in her talents, but sometimes those falter when she's not appreciated for them. Rachel longs to be accepted and loved in return, but she makes it difficult sometimes without meaning to. Rachel also has a flair for the dramatic. She's driven, occasionally selfish but more often, self-less. Affectionate, she wears her heart on her sleeve and owns her own special brand of crazy. Though her crazy is somewhat toned down,…Rachel Berry is one of a kind. A big fish in a small pond. One big magical fish.

HISTORY:
Rachel Barbra Berry was born to jewish, interracial, muggle fathers Hiram and Leroy Berry with the help of a surrogate named Shelby Corcoran in New York City. The Berry family moved to England when Rachel was only eight when one of her fathers was offered a job there instead. Her first name derived from her fathers favorite television program, 'Friends', and her middle name was in honor of the most talented woman on the planet, Barbra Streisand. At a young age, Rachel already knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. She wanted to perform, and thank goodness she had the singing, dancing and acting chops to pull it off. Confidence was bestowed upon her as her fathers would enroll her in various classes in order to improve her talents as well as pageants and competitions where she found herself winning quite often;
But Rachel grew up feeling very different from everybody else. Kids at school would make fun of the way she worded things, how she dressed and how big her ambition and dreams were. They'd make fun of her nose, her height and the narcissistic way she acted around the other children. Needless to say, she wasn't very liked, but Rachel still believed that something greater was waiting for her. Something special. So when her Hogwarts letter arrived confirming she was a witch, she was beyond ecstatic. Not only because magic was apparently real, but because maybe finally she'd be able to fit in. That there were others like her. She wouldn't be lonely anymore.
She jumped at the chance to attend Hogwarts with other kids like her. Her fathers were a bit hesitant at first but they knew that going to school for magic was what was missing from their daughter's life and it would certainly make her happy. Rachel researched all that she could about her new world before going to school. She liked to be well-prepared, after all. Her expectations were high. She predicted she'd be welcomed by all of the school with open arms and she'd be praised endlessly over the many talents she possessed. But alas, the wizarding world wasn't much different from the muggle one.
There was such prejudice against her blood status. Though they wore uniforms, kids still seemed to find something to make fun of her for. People apparently didn't appreciate the way she would go on and on about her talents and intelligence and ambition. As of late though, her being tormented died down significantly and she gained a good amount of friends that were misfits just like herself. Other talented witches and wizards that were skilled in more than just magic. They would make beautiful music together. Literally. Rachel entered Hogwarts as a Gryffindor and immediately threw herself into her studies as a way to prove herself. Rachel excelled in almost everything she attempted why should magic school be any different? Now Rachel starts her seventh year, with high hopes for her future, with friends in and outside of Gryffindor, knowing she's ever closer to getting out and making something spectacular of herself like she always said. Rachel's a star and it shines above all others.

SAMPLE POST:
Maintaining her eye-contact with Noah didn't last more than a couple of seconds every time she attempted to do so. Her arms stayed in their protective crossed position in front of her as he spoke. 'Because I was curious as to how you'd react' didn't seem like a very good answer to his statement. It was the truth but there was more to it than that. Why was he being so calm about this? Granted, she only said a little white lie and it wasn't a big deal, but she assumed he wouldn't like to be lied to. Nobody really does. She was relived, however to learn that he wasn't snapping at her. He could, she was aware, but she was glad he didn't anyway.
"…don't you think I would have acted the same if it was Finn or some other guy." 'Yes', she mentally answered in her head. It was what she was hoping for anyway. Her eyes left him once again when he said she needed to stop making him jealous. This was the only time she had ever tried to make him jealous. Her little lie had its desired effect but she wasn't sure it was worth it anymore. Subconsciously, Rachel touched the outside corners of her eyes at the mention of wrinkles. It was just an automatic response. But she didn't have any. Not yet, anyway.
Rachel held her tongue at his mini-speech. There was nothing she could respond to that anyhow, but when he asked again about the lie so sincerely, she just couldn't deny him an honest answer anymore, plus they needed to clear this up. Her arms left their crossed position and her hands instead met and started to twiddle as an automatic habit. "Because I still l-care about you," she said quietly as her eyes rose to meet his. "I was curious if by your reaction, that you still did too about me. Because I wanted to know for a moment that you missed me and wanted to know that what we used to have wasn't just a big fat lie." Rachel paused not exactly knowing what to say next. She wasn't entirely certain either what made her say this in the first place, she supposed she needed closure. She had never received it and it felt like her lingering feelings for him were still unrequited. "I wasn't intending to lie to you, Noah. I wasn't intending to see you today either, but it just happened."
